Bloodworks Northwest (formerly Puget Sound Blood Center) has more than 70 years of Northwest history and is backed by 250,000 volunteer donors. A recognized leader in transfusion medicine, Bloodworks serves patients in more than 90 hospitals in Washington, Oregon and Alaska -- partnering closely with hospitals to deliver the highest level of patient care. It is local, non-profit, independent, volunteer-supported and community-based.
Comprehensive services include blood components, complex cross-matching, care for patients with bleeding disorders, specialized lab services to support organ transplants, clinical trials, and collection of cord blood stem-cells for cancer treatment. We’re one of a few blood centers in the U.S. doing leading edge blood research: eliminating serious complications from transfusion, making blood components last longer, and stopping unwanted blood clots that cause heart attacks and strokes – the number one cause of premature death worldwide. Patients with traumatic injuries, undergoing surgeries or organ transplants, or receiving treatment for cancer or blood disorders -- all depend on its services, expertise, laboratories and research. Because blood works miracles every day. For more information, visit bloodworksnw.org.
